'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the thrilling closing stages of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles amid the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a speculative strike from outside the box, and the defender promptly converted the rebound before charging toward the home end to mark the goal, with supporters congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This sealed an unbelievable recovery given the team had trailed 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. During the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result secured a upcoming game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's volley from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that far out," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right flank after Orient changed shape. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way Orient attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It appears that they always find their target and they know how to control and neutralize a game. You can believe you're doing well and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even seeing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It takes a strong mentality and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a fans' favourite across two seasons at his former club and has swiftly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he reunited with his former manager, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without real physicality. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

His progress reflects that development for club and country, shining for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including two matches fixtures against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This marks a remarkable path for the player from the local area in his hometown, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they played on an plastic turf and the arena covering was closed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he says, chuckling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "This turned out quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a small coach driven by academy staff, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to spend time with the guys but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on the Tube after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
